Getting to University of British Columbia
Travel Green!
The vast majority of us will travel to/from Vancouver by air and thereby
contribute to Global Warming. Think about the "carbon footprint" of your
flights and consider a donation to allow a tree to be planted to reduce your
CO2 contribution to the atmosphere. Just go to this site to learn how to do
it www.treeflights.com.
Taxi From The Airport
There is 24-hour cab service from the arrivals area at Vancouver International Airport. The trip will take approximately 30 minutes and the cab fare to UBC is between $35 and $40 CAD. Ask the driver to take you directly to Gage Towers, Walter Gage Residence, 5959 Student Union Boulevard, on the UBC Campus. It is common to tip the taxi driver 10 to 15 per cent of the fare. The Gage Towers front desk is open 24 hours a day. Telephone: 604 822-1000.
Public Transport from the Airport
There is no direct bus service from the airport to campus. However, it is possible to get to UBC by public transit, although it will require transferring buses twice and may take up to an hour. This is something to carefully consider if you are bringing a great deal of luggage. Check Translink for the exact fare and schedule from “Airport Station YVR” to the “UBC loop.” From the UBC bus loop, walk across Student Union Blvd to Gage Towers.
